Haryana sets up panel to look into Lokayukta Act

The Haryana government today constituted a committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary for suggestions on the implementation of the Lokpal and Lokayukta Act 2013.

The committee will submit its recommendations within two months to suggest any amendment, if required, in the Lokayukta Act, 2002, an official spokesman said here.

Other members of the committee are the Additional Chief Secretary of Home and the Haryana Advocate General.

The decision of the state government assumes significance in the backdrop of the Haryana Lokayukta declining to review its recommendation to file a case against Chief Parliamentary Secretary Ram Kishan Fauji in a cash-for-land use licence (CLU) scandal.

Lokayukta Justice (retd) Pritam Pal also dismissed two applications by Fauji, a Congress MLA, and stuck to his order recommending registration of a corruption case against the legislator under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
