Haryana's Department of Social Justice and Empowerment will launch a special campaign to control the menace of drugs, especially in the districts bordering Punjab, state minister Krishan Kumar Bedi said today.
He said the campaign would also include prevention of sale of drugs, treatment of drug addicts, and making people aware about the adverse effects of drugs on their health.
"A Task Force has already been formed at the district level under the chairmanship of the deputy commissioner concerned. A committee has also been constituted at the state level under the chairmanship of the chief minister, in which representatives from health, home, social justice and empowerment and other departments have been included," Bedi told reporters here.
Bedi said 60 drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centres were operating in the state in collaboration with non-government organizations (NGOs). Besides, such centres are operating in district hospitals also.
"A special campaign will be launched to control the menace of drugs, especially in the districts bordering Punjab," he said.
NGOs working for drug de-addiction would be identified and honoured at a state level function where the chief minister or a union minister would be the chief guest.
