Haryana steps up effort to improve child sex ratio

A circular to this effect, addressed to all the Deputy Commissioners, was recently issued by the Development and Panchayats Department, an official said.

The circular states issues like child sex ratio, illegality of sex determination of foetus and female foeticide should be discussed in the special gram sabha meetings.

According to 2011 Census, Haryana has 877 females per 1000 males.

Chairperson of the Anganwadi centre monitoring committee has been directed to closely monitor the registration of pregnant women, birth, immunisation and other activities, the official said.
