Haryana to hold free eye treatment camps in all districts

Haryana government's health department will organise 'Mega Eye Camps' across all districts where cataract surgery will be performed free of cost, apart from distribution of lenses, spectacles and medicines.

Directions have been issued to all civil surgeons for organising these camps, Health Minister Anil Vij said here today.

He said the camps in Hisar and Jind will be held on February 11, in Ambala on February 12, in Fatehabad, Rohtak and Kaithal on February 13 and in Gurgaon, Kurukshetra, Panipat and Sirsa on February 15.

Similarly, in Bhiwani, Palwal and Yamunanagar on February 16, in Karnal, Mewat, Panchkula and Sonepat on February 18, in Faridabad on February 19, in Jhajjar on February 20, in Narnaul on February 26 and in Rewari on February 29, he said.
 

Vij said the directions of the central government would be followed for cases of cataract surgery and services of best eye specialists working in government and private sectors would be sought.

Besides, help of local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and other groups would be sought for success of these camps, he said.

The screening facility for patients would be provided at local Primary Health Centres and Community Health Centres, he added.
