Haryana to provide Rs 1,000 monthly pension to disabled

Haryana announced a monthly pension of Rs 1,000 to physically challenged persons in the state from January next year.

Haryana Social Justice and Empowerment Minister, Geeta Bhukkal announced the scheme and said that a provision of Rs 101.42 crore had been made under Pension Scheme for physically challenged persons during the current financial year.

In the last financial year, a sum of Rs 95.93 crore had been released as pension among more than Rs 1.34 lakh disabled persons, she said.

The government was running a residential school for the blind up to class 12 in Panipat where 100 students are getting free facilities, she said.
 

Apart from this, schemes like scholarship for these students, unemployment allowance to educated students, grant-in-aid to voluntary organisations engaged in welfare of physically challenged and financial assistance to non school going disabled students are being carried out by the state government.
