Haryana to soon set up separate SGPC: Hooda

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said a decision would soon be taken regarding the formation of separate Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee in the state keeping in view the larger interest of Sikh Community.

The state government had invited affidavits from the people of Sikh Community in this regard and a committee had also been constituted under the chairmanship of State Finance Minister Harmohinder Singh Chattha, Hooda, who was addressing a party workers meeting here, said.

The committee had submitted its report to the state government and a decision would soon be taken in this regard after taking legal opinion, Hooda said.
 

Sikhs in Haryana have been demanding since long setting up a separate SGPC for managing the affairs of Sikh shrines in the state. At present, SGPC is managing affairs of all Sikh shrines in Punjab and Haryana.
