Hastinapur land scam: Attachment of asset proceedings begin

District authorities have started proceedings to attach the assets of Rahul Goel, one of the accused in Hastinapur Sanctuary land-grabbing scam, and also appointed an administrator under Gangster Act, police said today.

District Magistrate Koshal Raj Sharma ordered to initiate action to attach around 60 properties acquired illegally, mostly pieces of land, on a request from the police, they said.

Goel, an advocate and a son of a retired revenue clerk who is also an accused in the case, has 16 cases against him.

They have been booked under Gangster Act in connection with Hastinapur Sanctuary land grab scam earlier this month. He is currently lodged in jail.
 

Several people, including revenue clerks, have been booked by the police after cases were registered against them on charges of grabbing government land worth several crores of rupees at Hastinapur sanctuary in the district.

As many as 30 cases have been registered in different police stations against the alleged encroachment on government land in 27 villages in the district.
