Hastinapur sanctury land grab: Former SDM among five booked

District authorities have booked the then Sub Divisional Magistrate and four other revenue officials for allegedly alloting government land to ficticious persons at Lukadri village here.

Yesterday, a case was registered against five revenue officials namely - the then Sub Divisional Magistrate of Jansath H R Bhardwaj, then Tehsildar Ramsingh Yadav, then Nayab Tehsildar Ishvar Prasad and retired revenue clerks Shiv Kumar and Amlesh Sharma, Revenue Inspector Virendra Verma said.

The accused had allegedly made allotment of government land to fictious persons on May 15, 1988 under Bhopa police station here, Verma said.

Several people have been booked by the police after as many as 30 cases were registered against them on charges of allegedly grabbing government land worth several crores of rupees in 27 villages in the district.
