Days after Union Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh's questioning India Inc for lack of dedication towards 'Swachh Bharat' campaign, TCS today said it has built toilets for girl students in over 1,000 schools in states like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Bihar.
"TCS is committed to the Prime Minister's Swachh Bharat initiative of ensuring safety, dignity and equality for all girl students," company's Chief Executive and Managing Director N Chandrasekaran said.
The country's largest software exporter said it has built toilets for girls in about 1,041 schools in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Bihar in the first phase of the sanitation drive.

For maintaining and cleaning toilets, the company has aligned with two maintenance partners across select states, it said.
It can be noted that right after the launch of the initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year, there were a slew of commitments announced by corporates including Bharati Airtel, L&T and TCS, among others to build toilets.
"Corporate sector is not coming forward nor showing any dedication to build toilets in the rural areas and whatever is being done is done in a piecemeal fashion," Union Minister Singh had said in Delhi earlier this month.
