BJP MP Kirti Azad today wondered at the party's decision to suspend him for raising the DDCA issue and said he has sought an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to explain the matter to him.

"The prime minister is the supreme leader of the party (BJP). I again requested him to give an audience so that I can explain to him the entire issue," he told newsmen here.

Azad said he had sought an appointment with the prime minister on the issue earlier too.

Elaborating, Azad, a former cricketer, said "I am still at a loss to understand why the party has suspended me for raising corruption issue in the DDCA, a cricketing body which in no way has anything to do with BJP.

"Even the show cause to which I answered within 10 hours of receiving, does not say anything concrete about me breaking party discipline at any point of time," he said.

Azad's action had put Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in a difficult spot and rocked the Parliament during the Winter session.

Claiming that he had made Darbhanga a safe seat for BJP through his sincere work, Azad said "In the event of BJP finally expelling me and if Darbhanga seat falls vacant I will invite Arun Jaitley to contest the election from the seat. I will contest as an Independent."

He categorically denied being in touch with Congress or nurturing any plan to cross over to it in the event of BJP finally showing him the doors.

"I have never thought of such a thing even in my dreams. It is a canard spread by some leaders in BJP who are experts in feeding off the record news to mediapersons," Azad said.

He reacted strongly to the Bihar BJP suspending nearly half-a-dozen Darbhanga district unit office bearers, including its Vice-President Binod Mishra and General Secretary Arun Singh, for speaking against his suspension.

Such an action would only make angry genuine party workers and people who have always supported BJP in Darbhanga, he added.
