Hawala racket busted in Mathura, 3 arrested

Three persons have been arrested with Rs. 1.40 crore for allegedly operating a hawala racket in Mathura Kotwali area, police said today.

Police during a surprise check busted a hawala racket. Rs. 1.40 crore were seized from three persons arrested in this connection, SP (City) Shailesh Pandey said.

The three - Parmal Singh, Sunil, Jai Singh Degle - were nabbed at the three-way point near Dhauli Piau. Rs 1,39,50,000 kept in the chest of the car they were travelling in were seized.

During interrogation, the arrested have disclosed the modus operandi and whereabouts of Gwalior-based kingpin of the trade Manoj Kumar Jain, he said.
 

"Since it's a case of apprehension of The Prevention ofMoney Laundering Act, the three accused were handed over to Income Tax department," he said.

Meanwhile, Dy Commissioner (Investigation Wing, Agra) Anuradha said, "A summons is being issued to the accused seeking explanation on the unaccounted cash.
