The Bombay High Court today quashed the two 'cross-complaints' but asked the complainants -- four youths -- to perform a service at a local temple for the next four Sundays.
A division bench headed by Justice V M Kanade said "next time they decide to fight, they should remember the consequences."
The judges took into consideration the fact that they had no criminal antecedents before passing the order of quashing the two complaints.
Vaibhav Dhapse, Nitesh Bhaskar and Nitesh Nayak had filed a first information report against Govind Khewate while Khewate had filed another first information report against the other three last month.
Later, both the parties moved the High Court to get the FIR filed by the other side quashed.
According to Khewate's petition, the other three assaulted him and his cousin over some issue. The other three contended that it was Khewate who hit them.
During the hearing, the four youths told the court they, being relatives, had sorted out the issue amicably and decided not to pursue the FIRs.
