The Jammu and Kashmir High Court today asked the State Sports Council to restrain PDP MLC Firdous Tak from running a water sports association of the state.
"Subject to the objections from other side and till next date of hearing before the Bench, respondent number two (Secretary, J-K Sports Council) shall not entertain any request with reference to running of the affairs of the association from respondents 3 (Tak) and 4 (Bilquees Mir)," Justice Ali Mohammad Magray said.
The ruling came on a petition filed by Umar Rafiq, general secretary, and other members of Jammu and Kashmir Kayaking and Canoeing Association.

The petitioners alleged that Tak, a PDP leader and Member of Legislative Council, was running an "illegal" and "unrecognised" association under the name of J-K Water Sports (Kayaking and Canoeing Association).
The petitioners accused Tak and Mir of unauthorisedly running the affairs of the association and petitioned that allowing them to run the affairs would "jeoparadise the interest of the petitioners" and therefore sought retrain order on their activities.
J-K Water Sports (Kayaking and Canoeing Association) was recently formed with Tak as president and Mir as the general secretary. The association has not been recognised by the State Sports Council yet.
