The Kerala High Court today directed the state government to produce progress report relating to in solar cases pending before various subordinate courts.

The solar case relates to alleged cheating of several persons by two persons--Saritha S Nair and Biju Radhakrishnan--by offering solar panel installations.

A staff member in Chief Minister Oommen Chandy's office was among those arrested in connection with the case.

A division bench, comprising acting Chief Justice Ashok Bhushan and A M Shaffique, issued the direction while considering a PIL filed by opposition leader V S Achuthanandan seeking a CBI probe in the solar cases.

The court granted two weeks time to the government to update the position of 34-odd solar cases pending before various courts.

Advocate General K P Dhandapani informed the court that in most of the cases, the investigation has been completed and charges filed.

The government appointed the Justice G Sivarajan Commission to probe the scam in October 2013 following an agitation by CPI-M-led LDF opposition. The scam came to light in July that year.
