The Madras High Court has cancelled the interim bail granted to T D Naidu, dean of the D D Naidu Medical College in nearby Tiruvallur, booked by Enforcement Directorate in a Rs 150 crore money laundering case.

Justice S Vaidyanathan was allowing a petition by the ED seeking cancellation of the bail valid till June 9, granted by the court on April 27 on medical grounds.

In the order passed yesterday, the judge said the court had earlier granted the interim bail to the accused, arrested on July 7, 2015, only because he needs to undergo some eye tests.

But now with the ED offering to take the accused to any hospital suggested by him, this court cancels the interim bail, the judge said.

He directed the ED to take Naidu to Agarwal Eye Hospital here, as sought by him, within a week by following the procedures of escorting the accused.

Earlier, the ED's counsel submitted that medical records presented by Naidu were forged and also that he was not 69 years old as stated by him in the bail plea.

Naidu's counsel claimed that it was only a typographical error and merely on technical grounds relief granted to the accused cannot be violated.

The prosecution case was that the petitioner as dean of DD Medical College, Tiruvallur, had cheated several students by taking nearly Rs 45 lakh each for admission though the institute did not have approval of Medical Council of India.

Nearly 70 cases had been registered under various sections of IPC against Naidu.
