Describing the role of the police as "suspicious" in the matter, Justice Sandeep Mehta observed that their actions tantamount to usurping of the property by expelling an old woman and helping an influential person.
"If the police will behave in this manner, there will be no reason to trust the police," said Mehta.
Expressing concern on whether the police was playing its role of protecting the innocents from injustice and criminals, the court said since senior police officials also exhibited "brazen inaction" in the matter, the hope of free and fair investigation is pointless.
Geeta Bai (80) of village Manda in Soajat was arrested by local police on March 4 on the complaint of one Gunvan Kumar. Police gave the possession of the house, in which she had been residing since 25 years, to him before she came out of custody on bail.
Gunwan alleged razed the house and constructed a boundary wall around the plot.
It is alleged that the police did not take any action on two complaints by Geeta Bai registered before and after her arrest but acted instantly on the complaint by Gunvan.
The court ordered immediate transfer of the papers to the CBI and directed that all the three FIRs be investigated by the agency to ensure justice.
