HC directs hospital to submit case sheet of woman prisoner

The Madras High Court today directed the nodal officer of a Multi-Super Specialty Hospital here, who discharged a woman prisoner reportedly tortured by police at Udumalaipet in Coimbatore district, without any court order, to submit all medical reports and the case sheet in a sealed cover to the court by September 15.

Justice V.Ramasubramanian also directed the nodal officer to file another report stating whether the patient needs continuous treatment in that hospital or anywhere else and if so what kind of treatment is necessary, with the case sheet, medical reports, and the treatment administered to her together with the assessment of psychiatrist.
 

The judge again stressed that no other person except her sister should be be allowed to visit her till further orders.

The court had on September 5 directed prison and police authorities to immediately admit the woman to the Multi-Speciality hospital at Omandurar Estate here.

The judge had also directed that no person from the police department, except the escort provided for the victim by armed reserve personnel, shall be permitted to meet her until further orders.

The woman was arrested in connection with a case of alleged murder and was reportedly tortured by Udumalaipet police.
