The Delhi High Court today directed police to ensure protection of a 22-year-old girl, who entered into a inter-caste marriage against the wishes of her parents, as her husband expressed apprehension of "honour killing".
A bench of justices Sanjiv Khanna and G P Mittal also asked police to produce the girl before it on a plea of her 21-year-old husband, who alleged that his in-laws have kept his wife captive soon after their wedding on May 6.
The court has directed Delhi government standing counsel to ensure the presence of the girl and her parents on May 27.
