The Allahabad High Court has directed police to comply with a lower court's order to register a case against a former Uttar Pradesh minister, his son and two brothers in a triple murder case.

A Division Bench of Justices Ravindra Singh and Anil Kumar Agrawal passed the order in response to a petition by Sonu Verma, whose father, brother and a security guard were shot dead on June 10, 2011.

Verma had contended in the court that an FIR was lodged against 14 persons in connection with the triple murder in Jaithra police station of Etah.

Later, an application was moved by the brother of the slain security guard in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate of Etah to include the names of Awadh Pal Singh, a minister in the previous Mayawati government, his son Ranjeet Singh and brothers Chandra Pratap Singh and Amar Pal Singh.

The CJM's court, on August 5, 2011, ordered police to register a case against the ex-minister and his family members. However, police in Eatah did not comply with the order.

The High Court, in its order issued on August 30, directed the Senior Superintendent of Police of Etah to ensure compliance with the CJM's order.
