The Madras High Court today directed the State Election Commissioner (SEC) Rajesh Lakhoni to appear before it onJanuary 11and produce certain documents relating to the election of DMK treasurer M K Stalin from Kolathur Assembly constituency in 2011.
Justice M Venugopal issued the direction when a petition challenging Stalin's election filed by Saidai Duraisamy, who had contested as AIADMK candidate from the constituency, came up for hearing.
Stalin, who is the Leader of the Opposition, today filed an application submitting that the "petitioner has taken a new stand and made a set of allegations afresh now".
"If they are allowed, the same will definitely create confusion over the entire proceedings of the trial conducted so far, as they are raised belatedly," Stalin contended.
