Uttarakhand High Court today dismissed BJP MLA Rajkumar Thukral's petition seeking quashing of charges against him in the 2011 Rudrapur riots case.

Justice V K Bisht of the High Court dismissed the MLA's petition, saying the FIR by the CB-CID charging Thukral was right, advocate Mohammad Maqloob, counsel for Suhail Ahmad, who filed the petition against Thukral, said today.

Thukral had been declared proclaimed offender by the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate in Udham Singh Nagar district on November 20.

After the order, officials of CB-CID had pasted a notice on the MLA's Adarsh Colony residence for carrying out of attaching properties.

On October 2, 2011, communal riots erupted in Rudrapur in which four people were killed and many others were injured.

Thukral was accused of inciting people to commit violence and he was charged by the CB-CID after the Congress government came to power last year.

The MLA has been on the run since October when a non-bailable warrant was issued against him.
