The Madras High Court today dismissed a contempt petition seeking action against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and top government officials for "failure" of Tiruchirappalli police to investigate a complaint and not complying with court orders.
Justices V Ramasubramanian and V M Velumani of the Madurai bench of the High Court, dismissing the petition filed by R Vijayakumar of Renga Nagar in Tiruchirappalli, said this was nothing but abuse of court process.
A person could not accuse an entire hierarchy of officials on the ground that a subordinate authority did not comply with the court directions.

The petitioner had moved the court in 2012 alleging local police did not act on his complaint against Grace George, a member of Mahila Congress unit, that she was using his house, let out to her for residential purpose, for running a ladies hostel and along with her husband attempted to kill him.
When the court heard his petition, the government advocate told the court that the petitioner's complaint was registered.
However, later he came to know through an RTI query that the police had closed the case on August 30, 2010 itself on the ground of mistake of fact.
He had sent legal notice to the Chief Minister, state Chief Secretary, Home Secretary and police on February 15 last. But as there was no proper action on it, he moved the court again.
