The Madras High Court today dismissed the bail petition filed by a doctor, accused in the sensational murder of a neurologist.

A gang hacked to death Dr Subbaiah, a neurologist in front of a hospital in Abhiramapuram in the city on September 14 last over a suspected property dispute and Dr Jamesh Sathish Kumar has been named as one of the accused by police.

Justice S Nagamuthu, before whom the bail plea came up for hearing, while dismissing the petition, observed "the investigation is under progress. At this stage, if bail is granted to the petitioner, surely it would hamper the further investigation. Therefore, I am not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner."

The judge concurred with the submissions of the Government advocate who submitted that there are material evidence to show the involvement of Kumar and objected to the bail application.

Dr Kumar was arrested on January 29 this year in connection with the murder.
