The Gauhati High Court today dismissed the petition of former Nagaland Chief Minister Shurhozelie Liezietsu, seeking sufficient time to prove his majority in the state assembly.

A division bench of the high court, comprising Justice Hrishikesh Roy and Justice Arup Goswami, upheld the verdict of Gauhati High Court's Kohima bench.

The Kohima bench had upheld Nagaland Governor P B Acharya's directive to Liezietsu to go for floor test to prove his majority.

The high court dismissed Liezietsu's petition seeking sufficient time to obtain the vote of confidence after the by-election to be held on July 29, in which he is a Naga People's Front candidate.
