The Madras High Court bench here today dismissed a PIL by a councillor of Karur Municipality seeking to quash the order of the Commissioner for Municipal Administration and Water supply for setting up an integrated modern bus stand for Karur town in Karuppampalayam Panchayat in Tirumanaliyar revenue Village.
The petitioner E Ekambaram also sought to quash the order giving assignment to a consultancy service and also plan approval of the bus stand.
Justices V Ramasubramanian and V M Velumani observed that Karur municipal council had adopted a resolution to establish the integrated modern bus stand at Thirumanilayur. The resolution had been accepted by all the councillors of the muncipality except the petitioner.
The court could not interfere in a democratic process, as the approval had been given by the councillors. The petitioner also knew well that except him all the councillors had agreed for the new bus stand. Knowing fully well about the resolution, he had come to the Judges said and slapped a cost of Rs 20,000 on the petitioner which would be paif to the Muncipality.
