The Orissa High Court today dismissed a public interest litigation which sought judicial intervention alleging that Cuttack was left out from the central government-sponsored scheme of 'Smart City' in a discriminatory manner.
A division bench, headed by Chief Justice D H Waghela, dismissed the PIL without any cost rejecting the contentions made by the petitioner in the PIL.
The president of High Court Bar Association, Ashok Mohapatra, in his capacity as chairman of Cuttack Smart City Action Committee, had filed the PIL claiming that Cuttack, being the former capital of Odisha, has been "illegally and wrongfully debarred" to get the Smart City tag by an "arbitrary" evaluation of its potentialities.
"We are waiting for a copy of the judgment," Mohapatra said adding that a decision would be taken by the action committee after going through it.
