Madras High Court Bench here today dismissed a PIL seeking a direction to the government to test the milk supplied by the private dairy firms in view of the statement of a Tamil Nadu Minister that chemicals were being adultrated by them.

Justices A Selvam and N Athinathan dismissed the petition as withdrawn after the government advocate submitted that a similar plea had been filed before the principal bench in Chennai and necessary steps were being taken in the matter.

Hence, there was no need for entertaining the PIL in the Madurai bench, he submitted.

Pettioner Raju, a PIL litigant of Ramanathapuram, said no action had been taken by the government despite the Dairy Development Minister K T Rajenthra Bhalaji recently saying that the chemicals were added in the by most private milk producers to increase the shelf life of their products.
