The Madras High Court today dismissed a petition moved against Tamil Nadu government's order which said the documents of the vehicles would be impounded if the two-wheeler drivers and pillion riders failed to wear helmet from July one.
Dismissing a petition by one Gopalakrishnan against the June 18 order mandating wearing of helmets compulsory for two-wheeler drivers and pillion riders from July 1 and that documents of the vehicles violators would be impounded, the first bench, comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice T S Sivagnanam, said that there was no public interest involved in it.
The petitioner, while admitting that wearing of helmet is mandatory according to Motor Vehicles Act, had challenged the validity of impounding the documents of the vehicle of the violators.
