The Madras High Court today dismissed as withdrawn a habeas corpus plea filed by the step- mother of actress Anjali.

When it came up before a division bench, comprising justices V Dhanapalan and C T Selvam, the special government pleader said the habeas corpus petition is not maintainable as the step-mother, Bharathi Devi, had filed a plea before another court seeking maintenance.

The court then directed Devi's counsel to withdraw the petition who immediately accepted, and the bench dismissed the plea as withdrawn.

Devi filed the habeas corpus petition in April after she Anjali went missing during a visit to Hyderabad for a Telugu film shoot.

She said she apprehended threat to her daughter's safety.

However, the actress appeared before police in Hyderabad some days later.
