Madras High Court today disposed off a petition filed by Radha Ravi, Actor and General Secretary, South Indian Artistes' Association in connection with acceptance of subscription of towards membersship of S Murugan, R M Sundaram and P A Khaja Mohideen.
Disposing the main Civil Revision Petition Justice K Ravichandrabaabu directed the Trial Court to take up the main suit itself for final disposal and dispose of the same on merits and in accordance with law within six months from the date of receipt of the this order.
The matter pertains to a suit filed the members in the City Civil Court seeking a direction to the SIAA to accept payment of susbscription from them towards the difference amount of subscription made by them and for a permanent injunction restraining SIAA from taking action against them with regard to the membership pending disposal of their civil suit. The yearly subscription for members of the Association was increased from Rs 12 to 24 per annum.

In the AGM of the association it was decided that the increased subscription shall be made on or before March 31, 2014.
The Association informed the above members that it will not be in a position to accept the subscription in advance and gave an opportunity to them to remit the early annual subscription for the year 2013 on or before March 31, 2014.
Murugan and others filed a civil suit challenging it claiming they have already made advance payment as per the provisions in bye-laws of the Association and sought for a permanent injunction against SIAA from taking any action against them with regard to the member ship.
The Civil Court dismissed their interim application following which they appealed to Appellate Court which passed a decree and allowed the appeal filed by the members.
Radha Ravi filed a petition in High court to set aside the order of appellate Court which passed orders in favour of the members.
Disposing the above petiton, Justice Ravichandrabaabu directed the City Civil Court before which the main suit filed by the members is pending to dispose the main suit filed by the members within a period of six months without influenced by the order of Appellate Court.
