HC grants 15-day parole to gangster Gawli

The Bombay High Court has granted 15 days parole to gangster-turned politician Arun Gawli to attend his son's marriage in Mumbai.

After considering the impugned order passed by divisional commissioner, Nagpur, on April 23, which rejected Gawli's application seeking parole for 30 days to enable him to attend his son's wedding slated for May 9, justices Arun Chaudhari and P N Deshmukh here yesterday granted him 15 days parole to be counted from the day he will be released.

As per the court order, on all alternate days of parole period Gawli, a former MLA, will have to report to Agripada Police Station (Mumbai) for one hour in the morning.
 

For release he will be required to furnish a PR bond and a solvent surety in like amount to the satisfaction of the concerned authority.

Gawli, who is behind bars since his arrest on May 20, 2008 is at present lodged in Central Jail, Nagpur.
