The Calcutta High Court today granted anticipatory bail to Forward Bloc MLA Udayan Guha, who apprehended arrest for the killing of a youth, reported to be a Trinamool Congress supporter, during campaign for the just-concluded panchayat polls.

A division bench comprising Justice N N Mhatre and Justice Kanchan Chakraborty granted the anticipatory bail prayer of Guha and directed him to report to the investigating officer once a week.

The youth, Ratan Burman, was killed on June 15 in a clash between Forward Bloc and TMC supporters during campaign for the rural polls in the state.

Guha's name was mentioned in the complaint as a conspirator in the killing.

Apprehending arrest, Guha had moved the High Court seeking anticipatory bail.
