HC grants permission to Hindu Munnani to take out procession

The Madras High Court in a special sitting today granted permission to Hindu Munnani to take out a procession from Tidal Park to Kodiysia Ground in Coimbatore as part of their conference.

Justice T Raja gave the permission on a petition by the Munnani for conducting the procession this evening, after getting permission from Chief Justice Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul for special sitting.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore had denied the permission for the procession. The Munnanani submitted that the organisation conductes State level conference once in five years.

It submitted that the Munnani had proposed to organise seventh State Conference in Kodisiya Ground at 4 pm in Coimbatore today had also planned to take out rally from Singanallur bus stand to Kodisiya Ground.
 

The district president of the Munnani on May two had sought police permission for the procession and conference. On June 2, the Deputy Commission of Police, Coimbatore, permitted the Munnani to conduct the Conference but denied permission to take out procession prior to the conference, following which the organisation moved the High court seeking direction to permit it to take out the procession.

Justice Raja directed the police to give permission to the Munnani to take out the procession from Tidal Park to Kodiysia Ground passing thorough Thanneer Pandal. The judge however directed the authorities not to allow the cadres to raise slogan during the procession.
