Madurai Bench of the Madras High court today imposed a fine of Rs.1,25,000 on the Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Housing Board and an Executive Engineer of the TNHB, Tirunelveli, for not releasing the sale deed to five petitioners despite court's direction.
Justice Mahadevan said the court had directed them in 2011 to fix an amount for the sale,and release the sale deed. But as they did not release it, contempt petition was filed.But even after the contempt petition was filed,they had sought 15 adjournments without obeying the court order.
The Judge directed the two officials to pay Rs.25000 towards cost to each of the five petitioners and also release their documents within two weeks.

The petitioners alleged that though their sale had been registered,the officials were not releasing the documents on the ground that more money should be paid towards land value.The court had directed the officials to fix the amount and release the sale deed but they did not comply.
The court also directed the officials to file compliance report in two weeks.
