The Allahabad High Court today issued notice to BJP MLA Prakash Dwivedi on a petition challenging his election from the Banda assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh.
Justice Suneet Kumar passed the order on the election petition filed by Vivek Kumar Singh, who had fought the assembly polls from the seat on Congress ticket.
The petitioner alleged that Dwivedi deliberately omitted in his affidavit a number of criminal cases he had been facing and hence his election was liable to be set aside.

However, in the assembly polls held earlier this year, he had finished a distant third -- behind Dwivedi and the BSP candidate.
