HC issues notice to Madurai Bar Assn Prez, Secretary

In a suo motu action, Madras High Court today issued notice to the President and Secretary of Madurai Bar Association A.K. Ramaswamy and A.Dharmarajan asking why action should not been taken against them for violation of court order on making wearing of helmets mandatory and their agitation against it.

A Division Bench,comprising Justice S. Tamilvanan and Justice C.T. Selvam, on the basis of various reports received from the District Court, and Madurai Bench of the High Court today issued notice to the two.

The matter relates to the agitations conducted by the Members of the Bar against the order of Justice N.Kirubakaran who directed the government to pass orders making wearing of headgears compulsory.
 

The government in its order made wearing of helmets compulsory by two wheeler riders besides seizing vehicle documents of those who defy it.
