The Madras High Court today issued notice to Milk and Dairy Development Minister Rajendra Balaji on three civil suits filed by private milk producers claiming damages of Rs one crore each for his statements in the media on the quality of milk supplied by them.
Hudson, Vijaya Milk Dairy and Dodha submitted that the minister's charge that milk and milk products produced by them was adulterated was without any basis and claimed damages of Rs one crore each from the minister.
Justice C V Karthikeyan before whom the civil suits came up for hearing, issued notice to the minister and adjourned the matter for further hearing to July 27.
