Lawyers of Orissa High Court today passed a unanimous resolution to cease court work till February 19, protesting "lack of sufficient judges" to dispose of pending cases.

"The High Court currently has only 16 judges against the sanctioned strength of 27 and there has not been any appointment of judges here for almost three years now," said Orissa High Court Bar Association President, Srikant Nayak.

He said that the last appointment made was in April 2015.

Association Secretary Satyabrata Mohanty said the executive body would again meet next Friday to chalk out the next course of action.

The general body of the Association will meet on February 19 to decide on continuation of the cease-work agitation.
