Charging that fees for SC and ST students were not properly paid to the educational insitutes by the Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education, a petition has been filed in Madras High Court Bench here seeking to quash the Government Order allowing remittance of the fees directly to the institutes.
Justice D Hariparanthaman ordered notice to the Principal secretary of the Adidravidar Welfare Department seeking a report from him on the issue on Nov 23.
Petitioner Sakthivel of Subban Educational and Charitable Trust, running an unaided college in Karur District, submitted that the fees were fixed arbitrarily without consulting the colleges.

The authorities were remitting fees less than what is claimed by the colleges, he said contending that the government had not constituted the fees fixation committee for private arts and science colleges as per the orders of the high court.
Seeking quashing of the G.O on ground that it was illegal and unconstitutional, the petitioner said the colleges should be permitted to collect the fees directly from the students.
