The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court today issued notice to Tamil Nadu government and MGR Medical University on a petition seeking appointment of qualified persons to teach para-medical courses such as radiology and imaging technology.

A division bench, comprising Justice V.Ramasubramanian and Justice N.Kirubakaran, ordered notice to the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR University and the Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare department.

The petitioner claimed that the university had started B.Sc (Radiation and Imaging Technology) course without qualified faculty as per norms prescribed by the union government and the University Grants Commission for para-medical courses.

One batch of students completed the three-year degree course without proper instructors, he submitted.

He also prayed to the court to give an interim direction restraining the university from conducting the B.Sc.(R and I) course without qualified persons.
