A petition was moved in the Madras High Court seeking to stop the illegal transfer of the properties of a school by the the office bearers of of an association, which runs the institution.
The petition was moved by M Nagarajan, grand-son of Sangu Ganesan, who established the school in 1949 in Vadakkankulam f in Thirunelveli district, as per the desire of late Tamil Nadu K Kamaraj.
Nagarajan submitted that the school was established in association with T S Adhimoolam, the then Congress district president.
He submitted that his grand-father donated around 60 acres of land to the institution and Vadakkankulam Nadar Mahajana Sangam was formed to run the school and manage the properties.
However, in 2005 one R Arulrajan and his relatives became the office bearers of the sangam. Immediately after taking over the management of the institution, they started selling the properties to their close relatives for a price much lower than the market value, Nagarajan submitted.
In a bid to stop the "illegal' transfers, Nagarajan lodged complaints to the district registrar on October 20, 2015 and to the SP on April 5, 2016. As both the officials have failed to respond, he said he was approaching Court.
Special pleader R Rajeswaran submitted that the Inspector Ggeneral of Registration may be directed to consider the representation of Nagarajan and pass appropriate orders.
Justice M Duraiswamy, concurring with the submission, directed the authority to pass orders on the representation within six weeks.
