The Gauhati High Court has issued notice to Assam government, CBI, Enforcement Directorate and other concerned individuals on a PIL alleging corruption in Dima Hasao in allotment of quarries.

A division bench of acting Chief Justice T Vaiphai and Justice M R Pathak directed the government on Tuesday not to hamper the ongoing investigation and the investigating team.

According to a certified copy of the notice available today, the HC also directed the government to produce the status report before it on February 18.

The notice was also issued to the DGP, the District Forest Officer and the SP of Dima Hasao district, besides the OC of Haflong police station and four private individuals.

The PIL filed by a social activist named Jitul Deka alleged that highly influential persons are involved in the stone quarry scam as quarries had been allotted as per the whims and fancies of the chief executive members of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) without tenders, advertisements or any auction.

Advocate K Goswami appeared for NCHAC, while Advocate B Goyal appearing for Assam Government said the status report will be filed on February 18 next as directed by the Court.
