Rajasthan High Court today sought the response of the state government on a petition filed by Patidar leader Hardik Patel on "unwarranted vigil" by Udaipur police outside his house.
A division bench headed by Justice G K Vyas issued notice to the state government seeking its reply on the petition by September 2.
The quota agitation leader had moved the petition yesterday to seek relief from the "strict and unwarranted vigil" by the police, which he alleged, has set up a makeshift camp outside his temporary house for 6 months.

In his petition, Patel said that he has been temporarily staying in Udaipur for past one month but the police have "illegally" detained him in the house and was not allowing him to go anywhere.
Patel is at present in Udaipur after Gujarat High Court granted him bail last month on the condition that he will not stay in Gujarat for 6 months from the date of the bail order.
He said that he has been held hostage by Udaipur police, while the order of Gujarat High Court did not mention anywhere that he would be kept under house-arrest.
