HC orders CB-CID probe into girl's disappearance

Madras High Court Bench here has directed the CB-CID to inquire into the missing of a 17-year old girl in Pudukottai District since May, 2012.

Justices S.Manikumar and V.S.Ravi gave the interim direction to the ADGP, CB-CID, on a habeas corpus petition by the girl's father K. Rengasamy of Shanmuganathapuram village in Alangudi Taluk.

The judges directed the ADGP to entrust the investigation to a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) attached to Anti-Trafficking Wing and direct the officer to investigate the issue with the assistance of Pudukottai police and submit a report before August 14.

The petitioner's counsel, U. Nirmala Rani, expressed the fear that the girl might have been abducted for illegal purposes.
 

The government counsel's submitted that the police had not investigated the petitioner's complaint from the human trafficking angle.The judges said the girl was missing for over two years and ordered for CB-CID inquiry.
