The Allahabad High Court has ordered a CBI inquiry into the alleged fraud committed by a Noida-based company which has been accused of duping people of crores of rupees with the promise of good returns on their investments.
A Division Bench comprising Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Harsh Kumar passed the order on the petition of Amit Kishore Jain, who had moved the court dissatisfied with police investigation into allegations he had made in an FIR lodged against the Webwork Pvt Ltd.
The court directed the CBI to submit a report on progress in the investigation within a month.

The petitioner has alleged that the company had fraudulently claimed that its investment scheme was approved by the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs and had undertaken a massive publicity campaign, involving film personalities, promising very good returns.
The petitioner has also alleged that it was an "organized fraud" involving more than Rs 100 crore and although he had lodged an FIR at Sector 20 police station of Noida, he felt that the investigation was not being carried out properly.
