In their order, Justices Subhro Kamal Mukherjee and Harish Tandon asked Taaza Infotainment, the organisers of the 'Taaza Dandiya 2012', to deposit Rs 5 lakh with the Registrar General of the court during the day.

The event is scheduled to be held at the Netaji Indoor Stadium here from October 21st to 23rd.

A few days ago, the City Civil Court had directed the organisers to pay licence fees to IPRS. The organisers then appealed before the HC against the direction.

Under the Copyright Act, 1957, IPRS is the exclusive licensing authority for public performances of live or recorded tracks. They collect royalty fees from hotels, restaurants, pubs, shopping malls, etc for playing commercial music and distribute it to lyricists, composers and music companies.

IPRS has also filed cases against 'Dandiaotsav 2012' and 'Jhalak 2012', to be held at Nalban Boating Complex, for not paying license fees. The court had asked these organisers too to pay fees to the IPRS.
