Press Trust of India Kolkata
The Calcutta High Court today ordered extension of time of the Teachers' Eligibility Test (TET) in West Bengal by an hour.

Around 23 lakh aspirants are scheduled to appear for the examination on October 11.

A division bench comprising Justices Girish Gupta and S S Sadhu directed the extension of time from one-and-a-half hours to two-and-a-half hours.

The order came following a petition by an examinee claiming that National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has fixed examination time at two-and-a-half hours for all such tests.

As such, the examination time fixed by the West Bengal government at one-and-a-half hours was not in accordance with the rules, the court said.

The TET examination was scheduled to be held in the state on August 30, but was postponed owing to alleged leak of question papers.

The examination date was first postponed to October three, but was again postponed today to October 11 by the state government.
