The Madras High Court bench here today ordered issue of notice to the officials, including Commissioner of Madurai City Police, on a petition by an aspirant for Tamil Nadu Special Police Youth Brigade, who sought to quash the letter rejecting his candidature on medical ground despite given clean chit by doctors.

Justice T Rajendran ordered notice to the officials on a petition filed by 27-year old Meenakshi Sundaram.

The petitioner submitted that after clearing examination, he also cleared various tests including physical endurance test held on January 20, 2014.

However, the Commissioner said the Government Rajaji Hospital doctors had said that he was unfit to work due to distant vision.

Tyagarajan, a reputed opthalmologist had said he had good vision and could operate even train.

Then on the order of the High Court a three member committee said that he did not have distant vision problem though he had undergone minor surgery for refractive problem.

Later a doctor of Aravind Eye hospital also cleared that his eye sight was normal and refractive surgery did not affect his eye sight in any way.

The committee said that he did not have distant eye vision problem and three other doctors had also cleared.

He said the government proposed to appoint 1500 members for the brigade, hence the court should direct the officials to consider appointing him for Tamil Nadu Special Police Youth Brigade.
