The Madras High Court has ordered police protection to a 29-year-old woman, who left her matrimonial home here along with her two-year-old daughter following alleged dowry harassment by her in-laws, for visiting the house and retrieving her belongings including educational and medical records of her child.
The order was passed by Justice K B K Vasuki on a petition by one Bhavani who submitted that she had left behind all her belongings when she left for her mother's house in Bangalore on June 27 last.
Since she apprehended trouble if she visited the house, she had given a complaint to the Ambattur All-Women Police Station against her in-laws. The police called her husband and made inquiries but did not take any further action as her husband was influential, she charged.
