The Allahabad High Court came to the rescue of a couple who had married against the the wishes of their families, when policemen allegedly tried to forcibly lift them from outside the court premises today.
Justices Abdul Mateen and Ashwini Kumar Singh of the Lucknow bench of the high court directed the SP Bahraich and SSP, Lucknow to submit a report within 15 days in the matter involving a couple and their legal counsel.
During the course of the hearing, the court was informed that some policemen allegedly from Bahraich district's Baudi police station arrived at the court this morning while the couple was waiting for their entry passes and tried to pick up the duo and their counsel, PK Jaiswal.

The trio was, however, saved following the intervention of advocates present at the spot.
The couple have reportedly married against the wishes of their parents and there are allegations against the husband, Pravesh Kumar, of having lured away a minor girl.
However, following a writ petition filed by the husband, the court stayed any arrests and directed the Lucknow SSP and the Bahraich SP to ensure security of the couple.
Meanwhile, the chowki in-charge at the high court has informed the two-judge bench that the jeep and its driver have been caught although the others involved in incidents had managed to flee.
Based on information provided by an advocate, an FIR was lodged this evening against the Baudi police station in-charge along with some other policemen and the family members of the girl, including her father, at Wazirganj police station in Lucknow.
